Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The assembly, production and testing of Edinburgh Sensors Gas detectors within our Assembly, Stage 1 and Stage 2 test areas. This will include wiring and electrical assembly of Company products, electrical sub-assemblies, initial testing and final testing of Gas Sensors products against written procedures.

Main Tasks

  • To manufacture, wire and assemble electronic components and sub-assemblies and to integrate them into Company products as required
  • Hand soldering – conventional and surface mount
  • To ensure that the specification and manufacturing standard of electronic wiring in the Company complies with required internal standards and safety regulations
  • Mechanical assembly
  • To ensure that all electronic wiring is carried out in compliance with Company formulated Quality procedures
  • To adhere to all internal company policies and Health & Safety procedures
  • To ensure all re-work is captured and controlled correctly through the route card

Occasional Tasks

  • To liaise with the Inspection and Test areas of the Company and suggest remedies to minimise Non-Conforming Reports and product rework
  • To ensure that all equipment is correctly used and stored with any maintenance requirements highlighted
  • To provide cover for shipping and goods receiving
  • Any other duties allocated by your line supervisor

Qualifications

  • Preferably at least two years working experience in manufacture of electrical products and assembly coupled with a systematic and thoughtful approach.

Desired Experience and Abilities

  • Practical experience in electrical production techniques, PCB assembly, soldering, wiring, crimping, etc.
  • Practical experience in wiring sub assemblies and looms with minimum supervision from wiring schedules and diagrams.
  • Must be able to recognise standard electronic components both conventional and surface mount
  • Experienced in point to point wiring of components/assemblies with the ability to recognise electronic components and wire in accordance with schematic diagrams.
  • Be able to produce high quality work on a consistent basis

  • To highlight possible Engineering Change Note requirements to rectify errors and improvements in production documentation and material.
  • To initiate Non-Conforming Reports to rectify problems with non-conforming material.

  • Equipment and tools issued by the Company
