What is Agriculture?

Agriculture is the practice of farming, including the cultivation of soil for the growing of crops and the rearing of animals to provide food, wool, and other products. Agriculture was the key development in the rise of sedentary human civilization, whereby the farming of domesticated species created food surpluses that enabled people to live in cities.

The rise of modern technology in the past few centuries has been both a blessing and a curse as it has sharply increased yields, while also causing widespread ecological and environmental damage, including contributing to global warming, deforestation, antibiotic resistance, and growth hormones in industrial meat production.
