What is Biogas?

Biogas is a remarkable renewable energy source that transforms our rubbish into power! This innovative fuel is generated through anaerobic digestion, a process in which bacteria break down organic waste, such as food and farm scraps, in the absence of oxygen. The result? A valuable energy source primarily composed of methane and carbon dioxide.

This process delivers significant benefits: it reduces our reliance on fossil fuels, lowers greenhouse gas emissions, and efficiently manages organic waste by converting discarded materials into valuable resources. Biogas production involves collecting and pretreating waste, loading it into sealed digesters, allowing bacteria to convert it, and then collecting and purifying the gases for fuel.

Throughout this process, safety and efficiency are paramount. Gas sensors play a crucial role in monitoring methane levels, a potent greenhouse gas and flammable substance, to prevent leaks and ensure the well-being of plant workers and the environment. We provide advanced NDIR technology-based sensors, such as our Guardian NG, to ensure safe and optimised biogas production.
